History of ISMS
The International Committee of Symposia on Morphological Sciences (ICSMS) is the permanent body responsible for organizing the official International Symposia on Morphological Sciences (ISMS). Through these symposia, the ICSMS promotes the global advancement of morphological sciences by fostering the exchange of scientific knowledge and supporting research across all areas of anatomical sciences.
The first ISMS was initiated by Professor Salvador Gómez-Álvarez and held in Mexico City from 16 to 20 November 1971. Since then, 29 symposia have been successfully hosted in countries around the world, bringing together thousands of morphologists to share knowledge, present new discoveries, and strengthen international scientific collaboration.
